Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (10.1) hands-on (video)

As far as product launches go, the 10-inch Galaxy Tab 2's debut was relatively discreet. Announced with little fanfare, it's not even on display in Samsung's booth here at Mobile World Congress; you'll have to talk your way into a private room if you want a shot at getting hands-on.

And we can see why: with a 1280 x 800 display, 1GHz dual-core processor and 3-megapixel rear camera, its specs are nearly identical to what you'll find in last year's Galaxy Tab 10.1. Sure, it has a redesigned back cover and ships with Android 4.0, but otherwise, it's the same tablet. But with the new Galaxy Note tablet replacing the original 10.1 as Samsung's premier 10-inch tablet, the new 10.1 could be the budget-friendly option its predecessor wasn't. So does it hold promise as a mid-range tab? It'll be impossible to say until we know the price, but watch our hands-on video after the break and decide for yourselves just how much you'd pay for this thing.

Joseph Volpe contributed to this report.

Gingrich warns of role of 'secular left'

(AP) ? Newt Gingrich warned members of a Georgia church Sunday that the "secular left" is trying to undermine American principles established by the Founding Fathers as he sought to rejuvenate his presidential bid in his home state.

The former House speaker is bypassing Tuesday's Republican presidential primaries in Michigan and Arizona and spending most of the week in Georgia, which he represented in Congress for 20 years. Gingrich said at a church north of Atlanta that Americans have faced a "50-year assault" by those trying to alienate people of faith.

"The forces of the secular left believe passionately and deeply, and with frankly a religious fervor, in their world view and they will regard what I am saying as a horrifying assault on what they think is the truth," Gingrich said. "Because their version of the truth is to have a totally neutral government that has no meaning."

Gingrich's campaign has struggled since winning South Carolina's GOP primary on Jan. 21, watching as Rick Santorum has emerged as Mitt Romney's chief rival. Gingrich is trying to regain traction in Georgia, Tennessee and a group of Super Tuesday states voting March 6, hoping to amass delegates to the national nominating convention.

At First Redeemer Church, Gingrich said the nation's founding was supported by people of faith, saying those principles were under attack by the Obama administration.

"You loan power to the government, the government does not loan power to you," Gingrich said.

The former speaker also criticized President Barack Obama's decision to apologize for the burning of Qurans at a military base in Afghanistan. The incident has led to violent riots in Afghanistan, in which four U.S. soldiers have been killed.

Gingrich said George Washington would not have apologized for an incident that led to the killing of young Americans. "We are supposed to apologize to those who are killing us? I don't think so," Gingrich said to applause.

At the outset, the thrice-married Gingrich told a few thousand congregants that he was not speaking to them "as a religious leader, and I don't come here as a saint," referencing the attention that his previous marriages gained earlier in the campaign.

"I come here as a citizen who has had a life that at times has fallen short of the glory of God, who has had to seek God's forgiveness and had to seek reconciliation," Gingrich said.

Gingrich travels Monday to Tennessee, where he will attend campaign events in Nashville, and then return to Georgia for a bus tour around the state. He has said a win in Georgia is critical to his presidential bid but has stopped short of saying it would end his campaign, stating the Republican contests are likely to extend deep into the spring.

Quran burning: What is the respectful way to dispose of Islam's holy book?

Thousands protested today the burning of Qurans and other religious texts at a US military base in Afghanistan.?

Thousands of protesters rallied outside the Bagram military base in Afghanistan today after NATO and US officials reportedly burned Qurans, the Muslim holy text. The Qurans, along with other books, were removed from a library at a nearby detention center reportedly due to extremist messages penned inside the books and exchanged among detainees, reports the Associated Press. US and NATO representatives apologized and promised an investigation into the event.

The burning of the Quran has?angered Afghans in the past, sparking deadly protests in 2010 and 2011. But if discarding a Quran is necessary, there are respectful and acceptable ways to do so, scholars say.

It is important to give a Quran a proper burial, says Omid Safi, professor of Islamic studies at the University of North Carolina and author of ?Memories of Muhammad.? Any text containing ?the name of God is sacred in Islam. God is revealed through scripture, and anything associated with writing it has a religious significance, Mr. Safi says.

One could literally bury the Quran, ideally in a place with little foot traffic. Another option is to put the book in a flowing body of water, either letting it sink or be carried away. Regardless of the method, treating the book?s destruction with respect is paramount. Safi likens it to a poor man?s funeral, where the book might be wrapped in a shroud before being placed in the ground and mourned.

Burning the Quran, however, is also an accepted practice.

?People often ask, ?if it?s OK for Muslims to burn the Quran, then why isn?t it OK for the US military to do it??? Safi says. ?That?s where the question of symbolism is important.?

Some say erasing the names of God and his messengers prior to burning the Quran makes it acceptable, but Safi says it?s even simpler than that. It comes down to context: Burning the text in a dumpster with trash on a US military base feels less respectful than treating the disposal with reverence in a burial or sacred burning.?

Safi finds one analogy particularly helpful: The Quran is to Islam as Jesus is to Christianity. ?In an Islamic universe ... the word becomes not a person, but a book,? he says. ?For a Muslim to see the Quran burnt not as a way of burial, it would look and feel like someone burning Jesus, or a crucifix.?

But contextualizing today?s protests goes beyond simple reverence for the Quran, Safi says. ?Bagram airbase is one of the central places of US military presence in Afghanistan ... [and] between 600 and 700 Afghans have been detained or are being detained there for years and years.? ?

Safi says this isn?t so much a theological debate on how to dispose of the Quran properly, but a charged conversation around a military force ?that?s being looked at as an occupying force ... [A]n unlawful, violent force.?

Schumer visits Griffiss, pushing for Military Airport Program funding

Story Created: Feb 24, 2012 at 6:22 PM EST

Story Updated: Feb 24, 2012 at 6:22 PM EST

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - U.S. Senator Charles Schumer visited Griffiss International Airport in Rome on Friday, announcing his push to re-secure Military Airport Program (MAP) funding to the airport.

The airport had been receiving $40 million in MAP federal funding from 2004 to 2010 to help it transition from a military airport to civilian use until it lost its slot to a Brunswick, ME airport.

Previously, only one former military-turned-general aviation airport was eligible for the funding, but now through the passing of a recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) bill backed by Schumer, three former military airports can receive the funds. Schumer says he is hopeful Griffiss will receive the money, helping the airport continue to expand and create jobs.

"It's really crucial, because this airport is growing," Senator Schumer said. "It actually has more jobs now than it had when Griffiss was an Air Force base."

Schumer says they will move forward by creating many construction jobs and opening up avenues for new business.

"It encourages businesses here, because if a business can be right at an airport and its executives, especially with lots of branches where it's executives can fly in and out quickly and easily, that's a place they want to come," says Schumer.

Griffiss would use the funds to build a new terminal building as well as renovate two former military hangars to help establish the airport as a maintenance hub for the Northeast.

Caring for a Memory Impaired Parent or Spouse - Boca Home Care ...

?

Dementia Memeory Loss, Alzheimer's Disease, Caregiver, Spouse, Parent, Home CareSpouses and other family caregivers for aging loved ones with memory loss usually become Caregivers by default. They don?t apply for this ?job? which is time consuming, emotionally, physically and financially demanding. It is thrust upon them with the expectation of doing it all.

You may or may not have experience with Alzheimer?s Disease or Dementia but are expected to?know many things and be on the job 24/7.? Boca Home Care Services strongly recommends the immediate family learn about their elderly loved one?s disease, now, what to expect in coming years and ?tricks? to enhance their role as the primary caregiver. Read, research, attend caregiver support groups and learn to be open about the situation and your needs.

Here are a few tips each caregiver can practice and master which can make caregiving a little easeir.

1. The person you love who has memory impairment has become brain damaged to some extent. Being reasonable, logical and rational is often a one way exercise. Your loved one may have diminished or nonexistent capacity to understand what you are explaining and expecting. Simple and Direct? short sentences are best.

2. If the facts no longer matter, don?t insist on them. Your father or mother may be speaking to or about a deceased family member as if they are here?. play along with it. Some ?therapeutic??fibbing is the right thing to do. Dementia robs? a person?s sense of ?reality? it doesn?t help to insist on things that are essentially harmless but comforting to them. You can achieve greater calm by agreeing and redirecting the subject matter.

3. There is NO PERFECT so don?t use your energy trying to be perfect or feeling guilty of not being so. Aim to be ?good enough, most of the time?.? Anger, frustration,? guilt, fatigue are human emotions, you are bound to feel them? and it is all right. If you are feeling consumed by negative emotions, seek help with individual counseling and/or a Caregiver Support Group.

4. Tell your loved one what is happening, don?t ask them. Say put on your red shirt or we are having lunch now.? Short, direct, specific instructions are preferable to giving choices which requires some degree of cognition which they may not be able to do.

4. Your spouse or parent may have times of lucidity which are striking and welcome.? It doesn?t mean they are cured, misdiagnosed or faking memory loss. Enjoy periods of strength, it is part of their disease.

5. You know your loved one best. You may need to educate the doctors, friends and family members about the condition and the abilities of your spouse or parent. Secrecy doesn?t really work and it takes a lot of energy to keep up a facade that others know is just that.

You Can?t Do It All ? Over Time! Being a Caregiver takes its toll. In fact the primary caregiver is often at greater risk than the diagnosed person. The stress, worry, responsibility and anxiety of the future take a physical and emotional toll. Get help! Accept offers from friends, family and say ?thank you? Hire help, even for short periods to give yourself Respite Time. It is all part of being human. The better you take care of yourself, the better you?ll be at Care-giving.

10 Tips On How To Make Sure Your Wedding Photographer Is A ...

You have seen it on practically every wedding photographers web site and in bridal magazines. It seems that we all want to give the bride to be and groom advice on how to find a wedding photographer. Most of things i read is sound and useful advice, however i thought it might be useful to write an article that explores this in greater detail. So lets look at the mistakes brides and grooms often make in choosing their photographer.

Over the past Two-and-a-half decades Ive had the opportunity to consult with well over one thousand engaged couples. I am always surprised by some of the criteria most of them use to select their wedding photographer. Here are the top 7 mistakes I feel so many women and grooms make when choosing a photographer for his or her special day:

1. Counting on WEDDING VENDOR REFERRALS. This may be the worst mistake of all of them. Many wedding vendors trade referrals along with other wedding professionals with no real understanding of the others work. Company, often this is an honest referral based on working in a few weddings with one another. But exactly how much can a DJ, for example, really know concerning the quality of the wedding photographers work? Quite often this kind of referral is simply in line with the fact that the DJ did using the photographer at a quantity of events and liked him or her. Did the DJ ever see the final result? Did they begin to see the wedding album? Probably not.

2. JUDGING A PHOTOGRAPHER BASED SOLELY On the ?GREATEST HITS? WEDDING ALBUM PORTFOLIO. There is nothing more misleading regarding a photographers talent than taking a look at an example wedding album thats a compilation of the best shots at 50 different weddings. An album similar to this might be beneficial in understanding just how great an image they are capable of producing, but thats really all it tells you. Ask to be presented an album of 1 entire wedding from start to finish. A good wedding photographer should be able to create a quantity of complete albums, which will give you a better idea of how your own wedding is going to be photographed. Virtually anybody with an above average camera can get one great shot per wedding!

3. PAYING TOO MUCH Focus on THE SALES PITCH. Every photographer let you know great things about themselves and they also should. However in your initial wedding consultation, search for photographers who are thinking about YOU. A great photographer may wish to be aware of types of photography styles you are looking at and what you are searching for inside a wedding photographer. A photographer who asks you lots of questions about the wedding and your preferences will probably be also more likely to listen to you and have a better feeling of that which you
want. If the wedding meeting is simply one long lecture in the photographer, move on to the following photographer. Hire a company who cares.

4. NOT ASSESSING THE PHOTOGRAPHERS PERSONALITY. This can be a biggie. It will cost the entire day with your photographer. If you dont be friends with him or her, it can ruin what ought to be the happiest day of your lifetime. Rude and bossy photographers may also create problems together with your guests. Look for a photographer who is simple to speak with and whom you can establish good rapport with.

5. CHOOSING ?UNCLE BOB? TO SHOOT The wedding! With digital camera models now in practically everyones hands, there seems to be considered a lot more ?wedding photographers? out there. The truth that a relative or friend is nice with his new digital camera does not mean he can handle a wedding. And what about file backups? Does your loved ones photographer know how to perform a correct backup, as well as possess the proper computer hardware to do it? In my business, I bring a portable hard disk to each wedding and also the images are uploaded and checked at that moment. When I get back to my studio, the pictures are uploaded to my main computer and then backed up with an hard drive. Once that is complete, 2 back up DVDs are burned. Only then am i going to erase them I used for that wedding. You wouldnt want your memories to go up in smoke plus a burnt out hard disk.

6. CARING Concerning the PHOTOGRAPHERS TYPE OF Cameras. In this era, a photographer can make great images with any medium to high quality camera. Professional wedding photographers who spend an inordinate amount of time discussing the kind of equipment they use may not be the best person for you personally. What you actually want to know is what kind of images they can produce and when they can demonstrate plenty of samples. It is the end result that means something. If youre happy with what they show you and everything else checks out OK, you can assume their devices are adequate for the task.

7. CONFUSION OVER PRICING. If you cant comprehend the pricing or packages, keep looking. Package pricing, if flexible, is the greatest approach to take. It allows you to have a better idea of what your final bill is going to be. Ala carte pricing can confuse and be misleading. You might think that something you thought was included in their coverage costs extra. Like a wedding album! However, a photographer who only offers strictly structured packages ought to be avoided. Ultimately, you want to find someone wholl work within your budget and give you exactly what you would like. If you do not see a package that matches your requirements, ask the photographer to let you design your personal.

This list was not meant to intimidate people in the marketplace for a bay area wedding photographer. It should, however, help you understand whats important. Look for a photographer with a style you want and who shows you images that you simply love. Use that initial consultation in an effort to become familiar with your photographer and develop rapport. Speak with some former clients to get a feeling of the way the photographer behaved in the wedding. If everything looks good, you are prepared to make your decision!

(AP Photo/George Osodi, File)

LAGOS, Nigeria (AP) ? Documents on three deadly jetliner crashes in Nigeria ? including one in which a plane filled with children going home for Christmas burst into flames ? offer a harrowing look at the loosely enforced safety regulations and oversight in Africa's most populous nation.

The records obtained by The Associated Press show that the captain of another Nigerian flight that crashed had gone back to work as a pilot despite being shot in the head years before. And in another case, a pilots' manual included blank pages instead of key safety information.

Nigeria's government long has declined to release formal records surrounding three fatal crashes in 2005-2006 including the one that killed scores of children.

While none of the airlines involved in the three crashes still fly in Nigeria, the safety concerns come after the West African nation gained a coveted U.S. safety status last year that allows its domestic carriers to fly directly to America.

The AP requested the documents about the crashes through a Freedom of Information Act request from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. The U.S. became involved in those inquiries because the planes were manufactured by U.S. companies and because Nigeria requested the help of American investigators.

Though officials now say air travel is much safer, the documents add to worries about flights in Nigeria, a nation of more than 160 million people where graft and incompetence often dominate government and where the demand for air travel has spiked over the last five years.

A report on the Oct. 22, 2005 crash of a Bellview Airlines flight that killed 177 people, including a U.S. citizen, showed the plane nose-dived into the ground at high speed. Investigators reportedly found only human remains that were "nothing bigger than toes and fingers," the report read.

The plane's captain, a 49-year-old former pilot, had been hired by Bellview after he had been working at a dairy for about 14 years, the summary read. The pilot also had been "shot in the head during a robbery attempt" during that break from flying, the report said.

"Interestingly, the Nigerian ... medical records do not contain any medical or hospitalization history of this event," the report read. The unnamed author of the report wrote that investigators would follow up on that detail, though no other documents released by the FAA refer to it again.

Harold Demuren, director general of Nigeria's aviation authority, said officials have worked to ensure safety regulations were followed.

"Nigeria had a really woeful accident record and those were the results," Demuren said. "However, you must add to it that things have improved tremendously since then."

Nigerian officials have offered conflicting reasons for the three major crashes in 2005-2006, never releasing full reports on what happened.

At the Bellview crash site, deep in rural Nigeria, villagers looted the few pieces of what remained from the plane, likely including its "black box" recorders, according to an investigation summary.

The Dec. 10, 2005 crash of a Sosoliso Airlines flight full of schoolchildren from Abuja to Port Harcourt, which killed 107 people, appears to have involved both pilot error and weather.

The pilot was "reportedly racing a thunderstorm" nearing the airport, an FAA memo reads. The inclement weather also forced the pilot to make an instrument landing ? meaning that visibility had been reduced to the point the pilot needed to rely on instruments to make his landing, the report read.

The plane crash landed on the grass alongside the runway, broke apart and caught fire.

The third major crash ? an Oct. 29, 2006 Aviation Development Co. flight from Abuja to Sokoto ? killed 96 people, including the top spiritual leader for the nation's Muslims. The plane crashed 76 seconds after going airborne.

Just before the crash, alarms began sounding in the cockpit and the pilots' incorrect actions stalled the plane, according to the report.

"Although bad weather may have created the situation, which the pilots reacted to, they reacted inappropriately," the report reads.

Even more disturbing for investigators was the airline's operation manual for pilots and cockpit staff, which "did not contain any information on adverse weather condition as that section was blank."

The manual was duly approved by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority despite containing the blank section.

"The deficiency in the operation manual would probably make it difficult for pilots to take appropriate decision on when to go or not to go in (an) adverse weather condition," the report said.

A 2009 study done for the World Bank concluded the aviation authority spends more than 90 percent of its budget on salaries and cannot fund training or equipment needs.

The authority "is still struggling to enforce quality, safety, and security standards on federal agencies operating Nigeria's airport and airspace systems," the study said.

Demuren, the authority's director general, acknowledges that challenges remain for his agency as it has an aging work force and old equipment but he insists things have improved greatly.

In the five years since the ADC crash, Nigeria has not had another major commercial airplane crash, something the nation's leaders point to with pride. In August 2010, the U.S. announced it had given Nigeria the FAA's Category 1 status, its top safety rating that allows the nation's domestic carriers to fly directly to the U.S.

The Nigerian government said it also now has full radar coverage of the entire nation. However, in a nation where the state-run electricity company is in tatters, state power and diesel generators sometimes both fail at airports, making radar screens go blank.

Yet air travel has never been so popular in Nigeria, whose growing middle and business class rely on air travel to avoid the country's poorly maintained and dangerous roads. The country had nearly 14 million air passengers in 2009, according to a December study by Lagos-based Ciuci Consulting and Financial Derivatives Co.

The nation's largest carrier, Arik Air Ltd., soon will have a fleet of 40 aircraft, the study said.

Yet Arik, like the nation's seven other domestic carriers, faces increasing economic pressure from rising jet fuel costs in a nation that must import the majority of its fuel despite being Africa's top oil producer, said Fola Onasanya, an analyst at Ciuci Consulting.

Major maintenance must be done outside the country, as Nigeria does not have the manpower or capability to do it locally, Onasanya said. Government regulations and taxes also add additional burden on companies in a nation where airlines have scrimped on maintenance in the past to cut costs.

"There's always been that pressure," Onasanya said.

US natural gas supplies shrank last week (AP)

NEW YORK ? The nation's natural gas supplies fell last week, the government said Thursday.

The Energy Department's Energy Information Administration said in its weekly report that natural gas in storage shrank by 127 billion cubic feet to 2.761 trillion cubic feet for the week ended Feb. 10.

Analysts expected a decline of 116 billion to 120 billion cubic feet, according to a survey by Platts, the energy information arm of McGraw-Hill Cos.

Last week's drop compares with the five-year average draw of 178 billion cubic feet at this time of year. Mild weather this winter has kept natural gas demand weak.

The inventory level was 38.3 percent above the five-year average of 1.996 trillion cubic feet, and 42 percent above last year's level of 1.944 trillion cubic feet, according to the government data.

Natural gas rose 10 cents, or 4 percent, to $2.53 per 1,000 cubic feet in New York.

Bahrain Shiites mark revolt anniversary (AP)

MANAMA, Bahrain ? Bahraini security forces fanned out across the island nation in unprecedented numbers on Tuesday as Shiites marked the one-year anniversary of their uprising against the country's Sunni rulers.

Authorities sent troop reinforcements and armored vehicles to the predominantly Shiite villages around the capital Manama to prevent people from gathering and answering the call of the main opposition movement, Al Wefaq.

Six American members of an activist group were detained during the protests, activists and the government said. Authorities said they had violated the terms of their visa, and that they agreed to leave the country without further legal measures taken against them.

The government meanwhile threatened to take legal action against the organizers of protests on Monday that turned violent. This could herald a new crackdown on Al Wefaq, which until last year was tolerated but which has suffered sporadic prosecutions and detentions after it took the lead in last year's protests.

At least 40 people have been killed during a year of unprecedented political unrest in Bahrain. The island kingdom, the home of the U.S. 5th Fleet, was the Gulf Arab nation hardest hit by upheaval during 2011's Arab Spring protests.

The kingdom's ruling dynasty has promised reforms to end the upheaval, although it refuses to make the far-reaching changes the protesters and Al Wefaq, have demanded. These include ending the monarchy's ability to select the government, set key state policies and appoint most of the parliament members.

Police on Tuesday fired tear gas at protesters in an apparent attempt to pre-empt a repeat of the marches the night before, in which protesters made their largest effort in months to retake the city's central roundabout. Pearl Square had served as the epicenter of weeks of anti-government protests last year, and its reoccupation would be a major boost for the movement.

The government statement said many protesters on Monday departed from a pre-authorized route in Manama, turning the march into a riot after police arrived. It said Al Wefaq was responsible for the violence, because it failed to "control the crowd (and) that jeopardized the safety of the people along a busy main road."

Legal procedures will be taken against the organizers of the march, Tuesday's statement said.

Al Wefaq rejected the claim, and said that the "unfounded accusations" are part of the rulers' efforts to discredit the group.

"They have used excessive force against the people throughout all this time, but people keep coming back to the streets to insist on their demand to have a role in the decisions about their country," said Abdul Jalil Khalil, a former Al Wefaq parliamentarian.

Shiites account for about 70 percent of Bahrain's population of some 525,000 people, but say they have faced decades of discrimination and are blocked from top political and security posts.

"After years of broken promises for change, Bahrain exploded last year," Khalil said. "We are still here and we want serious solution and meaningful reform."

Sunni rulers made token concessions in June ahead of U.S.-supported reconciliation talks between the monarchy and the opposition. A so-called national dialogue began in July, but Al Wefaq delegates pulled out of the talks, saying the government was not willing to discuss political reform.

Since then, no talks between the monarchy and the opposition have taken place, Khalil said. Street battles between security forces and protesters still flare up almost every day in the predominantly Shiite villages around the capital.

U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Tuesday the Bahraini government and the opposition "have a responsibility, both of them, to work together to ensure that the right to peaceful protest is respected by all sides."

Nuland also called on the demonstrators to refrain from violence and urged Bahraini security forces to "use maximum restraint" during peaceful protests. Washington asked the government in Bahrain to work with the opposition and other groups "to establish a process leading to real, meaningful political reform" in the Gulf kingdom.

The U.S.-based Witness Bahrain meanwhile said in a statement that six American members of the activist group were arrested during a peaceful march and held at a Manama police station.

Bahrain's Information Affairs Authority said that six U.S. passport holders have been ordered deported for "applying for tourist visas under false pretenses."

The statement says the six activists arrived in Bahrain in the past week and obtained tourist visas at the airport. "They were participating in illegal demonstrations," the statement says.

It said they were taken to a police station and "agreed to leave the country without further legal procedures" against them.

Another two Americans from the group were deported from Bahrain Sunday for taking part in opposition activities after they had entered the Gulf kingdom on tourist visas. Authorities on Monday tightened entry policies into the kingdom, and now demand prior visa approval for many nations that had been allowed to obtain entry stamps upon arrival, including the U.S. and other Western countries.

'Housewives' confess to real problems

Bravo

Kim Richards opened up to Andy Cohen on the "Real Housewives" reunion.

By Lia Haberman, E! Online

Viewers might have enjoyed this season of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" but at least one 90210 TV set was turned off.

Kim Richards' post-rehab interview with Andy Cohen finally aired last night, and the troubled reality star admitted she couldn't stand seeing herself onscreen.?

(For anyone who missed the real-time headlines or the zillion Bravo promos running on air and online, Kim also admitted she's an alcoholic.)

"I had so much guilt and shame for my behavior ... then I drank to cover the guilt and shame, to make it go away."

It was a somber farewell to season two, and not just for Kim.

Taylor Armstrong details more of her twisted relationship with former husband Russell Armstrong. She claims he bugged her desk, house and car and had her take a polygraph after accusing her of cheating. He also allegedly spied on her and almost drowned her in a friend's pool after overhearing Taylor discuss their problems.

And while she won't respond to Andy's question about her ex being murdered, Taylor does explain why she finally left him -- and it has nothing to do with getting kicked out her circle of Bev Hills friends. "I could have lost my eye," she says of an altercation with Russell.?

"I was living in a very unhealthy environment, and I drug a lot of my friends into (it), and I have a lot of remorse for that."

MORE: "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" reunion recap: Slashed tires, the c-word and suspected murder?!

Dana Wilkey gets to explain why she's such a flashy kiss-up ... after showing off her (bleep)-you heels. We're still wondering exactly who that scribble was directed at.

"I'm two people," she tells Andy. "My mom was poor and my dad was rich." She grew up in Methuen, Mass., where her $25,000 shades are half the median household income. And then moved to New York with her dad where she rubbed shoulders with Manhattan's elite at Nightingale-Bamford prep school.

So maybe her beef is with Lisa Vanderpump. "Your dog wears attire for every event," sniped Dana. Or Adrienne Maloof, who's "got a jet and a casino." Or Brandi Glanville, who she accuses of being a bad guest at game night for poking at Kim and Kyle Richards.

Any which way, it doesn't look like Dana's making the ladies' speed dial list except for Taylor's.

MORE: "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" reunion recap: Lisa Vanderpump's badonkadonk is under attack

Kim also holds a grudge against Brandi and swears prescription medication was all she took on game night.

She admits she owes the hobbled blonde an apology. "The difference is I owe her one for moving her crutches and she owes me one for basically hurting all the people I love.... One daughter just cried and another one told me you don't know how hard it is to walk down the street."?

But since she's gotten sober, Kim says her kids have come back around, visiting or texting her every night. And while it's also repaired her relationship with Kyle, sobriety hasn't reunited her with boyfriend Ken. Kim's now living in a hotel and hasn't seen him since rehab.?

MORE:?Wait, what? Which "Real Housewives" star says she hooked up with Gerard Butler??

As for Mauricio Umansky,?his relationship with sister-in-law Kim is still in limbo since no formal apology has been offered. And that's not all the?"Housewives" hottie is waiting for. Apparently, he hasn't received one naked fan photo this year.

That might change after tonight's topless montage that includes a quick flash of Mauricio's backside as he's gets ready for a massage.

PHOTOS: Before they were "Housewives"

Ken Todd also believes he's fairly attractive to women -- especially Brandi. "They want me.?And that's why I wouldn't take my shirt off in case she attacked me."

As for?Paul Nassif ... well, surgical consultations are bound to increase for Adrienne's sweet but slightly chubby hubby.

MORE:?Five things to know about the "Real Housewives of Orange County" season seven!

So, was tonight's interview with Kim enough or would you have liked to hear more about her recovery? Are you feeling differently about Dana after hearing about her humble beginnings? And are there any viewers out there hot for anyone but Mauricio? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.

Be a Trust Fund Baby Without Being Rich - New York Estate ...

In the past, it was only the wealthy that could take advantage of the tax breaks and other benefits of supporting a charity derived from charitable trusts. One reason for this was because it would often take over $100,000 to hire an attorney and start such a trust.

By pooling money among a group of people, however, you can set up your own charitable trust for very little - often with starting costs between $5,000 and $10,000. And the researchers at FindLaw have all the tips you need to know to pull off a pooled charitable trusts.

One of the great parts about pooled charitable trusts is that the charity itself, or an investment company, sets up the trust and is responsible for accepting donations from those who wish to give.

Each time you donate to a pooled charitable trust, you may take an income tax deduction. However, you cannot deduct the full amount you donated to the trust. You must keep in mind that you are deriving an income from the trust.

The charity is required to pay you or the beneficiaries you have named in an amount determined by the value of your total contribution as well as the fund?s yearly earnings. This income will be taxed just like normal income, but these payments can be deferred. For instance, many people who have contributed to pooled charitable trusts elect to defer all payments until they reach 65 or 70 in order to have additional income during their retirement.

Once you?ve set up a pooled charitable trust you can let people call your children trust fund babies, and show them that it?s not such a bad thing.

But you may want to keep one thing in mind: once you start acting like the wealthy you are also faced with other financial the wealthy face, which includes capital gains taxes. This is something you should speak to an attorney about.

The Undertaker Who Helps Big Banks Write Death Plans | KOSU ...

Filed by KOSU News in Business.
February 10, 2012

The nation?s big banks are writing death plans ? living wills that spell out how, in a future crisis, they could be safely dismantled. The idea is that the death plans will help avoid another government bailout of the banks.

?You?re technically writing your own funeral, down to the color of the flowers? says Dolores Atallo.

Atallo runs the living wills team at the consulting firm Deloitte. She shows up to our interview wearing all black, and jokes that she moonlights as an undertaker.

?The regulators are your funeral directors,? she says. ?They tell you how you?re going to be unwound and then they stand over there and say, ?I?m very sorry for your loss.? ?

Each bank is now responsible for proving ? in detail ? that in a crisis situation it could fail without bringing down the financial system. In the case of giant banks, this is ridiculously complicated.

?It?s like looking at a bowl of spaghetti and saying, ?Do you know how many strings of pasta are in this bowl?? ? Atallo says. ?And that?s a question the banks need to be able to answer.?

That?s just the bank side. Now imagine you are the relatively small government agency that will have to actually execute that living will. Sell the bank?s assets. Close it down. Insure the depositors.

I watched one living wills meeting at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation where more than 20 people spent at least 15 minutes just discussing this one question: If the government took over a huge bank to wind down operations, who would be in charge?

It is reasonable to assume that these living will documents will never actually be used. When it comes down to the wire, the government will bail out the big banks. The government will once again make an exception.

Even if that?s true though, Dolores Atallo says planning for death is an incredibly useful exercise. You learn things. You find things in the basement that have no business being there.

?There are legal entities that exist for no reason at financial institutions because they existed for a purpose that people forgot about and its on the books,? she says.

At the very least, planning for the end is an interesting thought experiment. An enormous institution can take a good look at itself and ask: Do things really need to be this way? Thinking about death sometimes changes the way you decide to live. [Copyright 2012 National Public Radio]
